We had an amazing few days here! The kids loved the waterfall pool and the beach services being free was super handy! Super cute little place to stay, lots of parking, great location to walk to restaurants and plenty of amenities on site.
Do not hesitate to work with Sugar Sands rental! Communication throughout the entire stay and lots of patience with my questions! The villa at Destin Wrst gulf side exceeded my expectations! It was just as the picture showed. Nice view of the ocean, quiet, clean, safe, and the extra freebies were a nice bonus. We used 3 of them (2 tours and the beach service). Keep in mind the beach service ends at 5pm. The walkway to the lazy river was odd as I didn’t expect to walk through a parking garage. It can be a bit confusing navigating between buildings as they are not attached. Be careful on what elevator you get on! Thank you for the memories!
Overall I would say that we had a good stay with this rental. However, I wouldn’t give this full stars, perhaps a 3.8/5? To start, I felt mislead about the amenities both in and outside of our space. They are upfront about you needing to provide your own supplies (cooking spray, spices, laundry detergent, trash bags etc) but I truly was not prepared for just HOW MUCH we would need. They say that each trash can has two bags provided, what they fail to mention is that there are no regular sized kitchen trash cans in the unit, just small bathroom sized ones. There were no coffee filters, and no dish soap, but there was a dishwasher. Next, the furniture. The pull out couch was a joke. Insanely small and uncomfortable. Thankfully our 5 y/o is a champion and could sleep on a rock. The bed was ok to sleep on but whatever detergent they used has caused my family massive skin breakouts. The unit was advertised with an oven, but what went unexplained is that it is a microwave oven. We “cooked” a premade pizza for over two hours and it was nothing more than barely cooked dough. The most frustrating part was how mislead we felt about beach and pool access. You’re told that every unit is allotted two beach chairs and an umbrella every day. What they fail to mention is that it’s shared with a (I’m assuming) sister company called the Island. It’s first come, first serve to a reservation hut that also sells the chairs and umbrellas as rentals. The young man working the hut was kind enough to my daughter and myself when we didn’t know about that tidbit and just took empty chairs. He also told me that we had been lucky to find the chairs we did because earlier that morning they had a line of people waiting for an open spot.
